A Message from the Board President
Cristina Vetrano Joins Ronald McDonald House Houston as New CEO

I’m writing you today to share some exciting news. On behalf of our organization, I’m delighted to share that Cristina Vetrano will join Ronald McDonald House Houston as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 17, 2020. Cristina is a highly respected leader in the Houston nonprofit community and brings more than 25 years of rich experience to our organization.

Most recently, Cristina has served as President and CEO of CanCare, a Houston-area organization committed to providing support for cancer patients and their caregivers through one-on-one emotional
support, empathy, and hope. Prior to CanCare, Cristina served as the Executive Director of Kids’ Meals, and spent 13 years with the American Red Cross where she worked in the technology, disaster services, and health and safety departments.

We are thrilled to welcome Cristina and look forward to introducing her to our Ronald McDonald House Houston community in the coming months.

We so value our relationship with you today, in this critical time, and as we grow into the future.

Programs & Activities: Christmas In July
Kids and their parents staying at Holcombe House have been taking a break from the long days at the hospital and in treatment. Thanks to Stuff the Sleigh and the Holcombe House Staff, everyone is celebrating Christmas in July. Crafts, baking activities, chats with fairy princesses and big surprises have filled Holcombe House and the hearts of our children and their parents.

Imagine 12 Days of Christmas—independent activities for individual families—it’s creativity abound. Because kids and their families are in their private rooms, masks are not required!

Can you guess who is in the penguin suit?

Thank You Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church
Thank you to the members and staff from Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church for selecting RMH Houston to be a recipient of the "Thank God on Friday" initiative.

They are stopping by this coming Friday to drop off a variety of gifts and donations for our families. They are bringing light and cheer to various groups in Houston, supporting folks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here’s How You Can Help
It’s As Easy As A Few Clicks

We need your support to replenish our supplies for our families staying in the House and the hospitals.

Our shopping list was updated TODAY! Everything listed on our wishlist is exactly what we need. Deliveries come directly to Holcombe House.

Safe, Creative Ways Kids Can Help RMHH During the Pandemic

  • Host a Birthday Fundraiser on Facebook.
  • Make activity or healthy snack bags for families in the hospital.
  • Host a virtual family game night, dance-a-thon or talent show. Collect $10 from each family to participate. Donate proceeds to RMHH. Everyone wins!
  • Make sock puppets for the kids and fill them with playing cards, crayons and a pad, hand cream and granola bars. Write a short, encouraging note and put it inside.

Why Your Support Makes A Huge Difference
The Coronavirus Pandemic impacts the way we live every day. Many of our favorite activities and summer plans have been cancelled or postponed. But, we cannot ask RMH Houston families, whose children are in the middle of life-saving medical protocols, to put their treatment on pause. Your financial contribution enables us to continue providing support to families whose children are critically ill, during this unprecedented pandemic.

Please consider a monthly gift. Every amount makes a huge difference.

Thank you for caring for our families

Mission Moment Friday

It was a week of surprises for the children staying at Holcombe House!  While Houston heat blazed around 100 degrees, we cooled things off with our first celebration of Christmas in July!  There was a new craft every day, delicious holiday meals and projects.  Everything could be done in the safety of each families' room.  Thank you to our friends at Stuff the Sleigh who helped make this happen.

Stay tuned on our Instagram and Facebook pages for other Christmas in July celebrations! #KeepingFamiliesClose

Please Consider making a monthly $10 gift to help cover the cost each family is asked to pay per night.
Imagine the impact you and 20 others can make with a gift like this. Click here to donate
