In March, almost 190 days ago, the emerging “new normal” caused by the presence of the Coronavirus in our community triggered RMH Houston to rethink our daily protocol. Keeping families safe and healthy, especially children who are immune compromised, has and always will be our first priority. For the last six months, we adjusted and we continued to serve our families at Holcombe House, Texas Children’s Hospital, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and MD Anderson and we did so with pride and excellence. We made this commitment:
Even during the pandemic, a child with a life-threatening illness cannot put their medical treatment on pause.
Since March, 5,170 meals were delivered by 106 loving meal volunteer groups. Hundreds of generous Amazon packages arrived including pantry foods, detergent, diapers and more. We could feel the love, even though we could not hug our wonderful supporters.
RMH Houston will soon be bustling with even more children, siblings and parents not to mention returning volunteers and meal groups. Each family will have a soft bed in a private room, transportation to and from the hospitals and grocery stores, laundry facilities, and of course meals and activities. Much like a House with a big family, we will be here to support families through their child’s health journey.
Every gift of every amount supports parents and their critically ill children every day, and ensures the continuation of our RMH Houston mission.
Thank you.
