As the air becomes crisp and we celebrate the season of gratitude, we're thankful to share some valuable insights in this month's Interface Newsletter. Our focus on safe, reliable solutions brings you a selection of noteworthy topics, beginning with a whitepaper on the 'Associated Apparatus: The Safe and Most Affordable IS Solution.' Dive into our video on the SPA2 Programmable Limit Alarm Trip, explore our new application note showcasing how the SLA can serve as a SIL 2 system for monitoring low acid concentration in a metals refinery, and don't miss our product spotlight on Signal Isolators, Repeaters, and Converters. Enjoy this month's selection of insights, and may your autumn be filled with discovery and appreciation for all that keeps your processes safe and strong!
Associated Apparatus: The Safe and Most Affordable IS Solution
Significant savings, both initial installation, and ongoing maintenance costs, for your intrinsically-safe (IS) facility or project, can be achieved by selecting associated apparatus as the IS barrier in your system. This White Paper gives you a brief introduction to intrinsic safety, the different components in an intrinsically-safe system, and the two different types of barriers. This paper also explains why selecting an associated apparatus as the IS barrier provides the most economical and effective use of IS technology.
SPA2 Programmable Limit Alarm Trip
Moore Industries SPA2 Programmable Limit Alarm Trip is a highly versatile, fast and simple solution to your alarming needs. The SPA2 accepts signal inputs from a wide array of instruments and sensors, provides two or four independent and individually-configurable alarm relay outputs, and its analog output (-AO) option can reduce installation costs and time by providing both alarm and transmitter functions.
SIL 2 System for Low Acid Concentration in a Metals Refinery
In metal refining, maintaining precise acid concentration is essential for efficient leaching and extraction. Any imbalances can lead to reduced productivity, equipment damage, and safety hazards. To address these high-risk conditions, a Safety Instrumented Function (SIF) with Safety Integrity Level 2 (SIL 2) is implemented, utilizing the Safety Logic Solver and Alarm (SLA). This system monitors redundant flow and acid concentration transmitters, pumps, and shutoff valves. The SLA employs configurable alarms and a one-out-of-two (1oo2) voting logic strategy to ensure timely shutdowns when necessary. All inputs and alarms are accessible via a web server or MODBUS.
Signal Isolators, Repeaters, and Convertors
Moore Industries Signal Isolators, Converters and Splitters protect your process by converting, isolating, splitting, boosting and stepping down process signals so field instruments can interface directly with indicators, recorders, DCS, PLC, Asset Management, Control and SCADA systems. With a wide variety of products, you'll be able to find the right one to fit your signal isolation or conversion needs.
