As April blooms and spring shifts into full gear, we're putting the spotlight on HART connectivity and data access across your processes. First up, we highlight the HES HART to Ethernet Gateway System's new feature update: HART Tunneling, designed to streamline access to HART instrument data. Then, we dig deeper with a new application note of HART Tunneling that breaks down how it works and how it can deliver the most value. Our featured video takes you inside the TCS Temperature Concentrator System, showing how it works in tandem with the HES to monitor up to 128 temperature points over Ethernet. And finally, our whitepaper, Extracting HART Data from Smart Instruments, shows you how to get the most from your smart HART field devices.
Product Update: HES HART to Ethernet Gateway System
The HES HART to Ethernet Gateway System converts signals from 1-16 HART devices with the single-channel HES, or 1-64 HART devices with the 4-channel HES, to Ethernet MODBUS/TCP, HART-IP, and HTTP (web server, read-only). This product update allows bidirectional HART communication through the HES for remote monitoring or programming of HES-connected HART field devices.
HES HART to Ethernet Gateway System with HART Tunneling
With the new HART Tunneling feature, the HES provides a streamlined way to configure, calibrate, and monitor HART devices remotely, right from a PC or control room. It eliminates the need for handhelds, multiplexers, or complex networking by enabling direct Ethernet communication with HART instruments through a VSP and virtual COM port. Compatible with popular software like PACTware, HART Tunneling helps reduce downtime, improve safety, and cut integration costs.
TCS Temperature Concentrator System
The TCS Temperature Concentrator System Multi-Channel Transmitter acts as a temperature mux and substantially reduces the cost of transmitting multiple temperature sensor measurements in general purpose and hazardous area applications by concentrating up to 32 signals onto one digital network link. TCS system modules include: TCM, and HMC or HES. The TCS supports MODBUS RTU utilizing the HMC and supports MODBUS/TCP and HART-IP with use of HES.
More than 30 million HART-enabled instruments are installed in process plants worldwide, and most process transmitters today are compatible with HART. Unfortunately, the high cost of a plant-wide HART monitoring system and a lack of familiarity with alternatives often lead to valuable HART data being underutilized. However, this can change. This white paper outlines how a HART interface module, like Moore Industries' HIM, provides a simple and cost-effective way to gather HART information for monitoring instrument status, diagnostic data, alarms, calibration values, and alerts.
